Seventy -Six Trombones - Meredith Willson / Arr. Leroy Anderson, and adapted by Jay Bocook. (Hal Leonard) ($60.00) (Grade 4) This march is from the musical "The Music Man". The opening key is C. The key changes several times throughout using F, B-flat, G, E-flat and finally ending in F. The meter also changes several times opening in 4/4 and going back and forth to 6/8.
Two Irish Songs - Arr. Steve Reisteter. (EPP) ($110.00) (Grade 4) This title contains "The Last Rose of Summer" (Thomas Moore) and "The Black Ribbon - Band" (Traditional). The opening key is B-flat. The key changes to E-flat, then to F and finally back to B-flat. In the opening few measures, there are many meter changes going back and forth between 3/4 and 4/4. There is a 6/8 section and then some changes between 9/8 and 6/8.
The Wizard and the Leprechaun - Craig Alberty. (EPP) ($110.00) (Grade 4) This title is in the key of F, with some accidentals throughout. The opening meter is 4/4 with the quarter note equal to 66 beats per minute. The meter changes several times going back and forth between 4/4 and 12/8. The alto saxophone, the clarinet and the baritone each have short solos.
Canons and Cadenzas - David Bedford. (G & M Brand) ($110.00) (Grade 5) (Time 16:00) "There are several canons, each using different sections of the main theme which is presented after a slow introduction. The cadenzas which follow, are themselves in canon and go through all the main instrumental groups: flute/piccolo, bass clarinet, oboe, E-flat clarinet, trumpet, and clarinet." This composition changes keys frequently (15 times), opening in Bb and going through the following keys several times: F, E-flat, G-flat, and D-flat. The tempo also changes several times from the opening 60 beats per minute.
Prologue: Ritual Dance - Elliot Del Borgo. (EPP) ($100.00) (Grade 5) This title is dedicated to the Marcellus High School Symphonic Band, Philip Natoli, Director. There is no key signature, and many accidentals are included. The meter is common time with the opening tempo marked at 72 beats per minute. The tempo changes several times throughout.
