Marching Band

Grade 2 & 2.5

• C’Mon N’ Ride It (Da Train) - Barry White, Johnny McGowan, Nathaniel Orange and Michael Phillip / Larry Clark (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 2.5)
  A dance rock at quarter note equal to 144. Band needs to shout and to be able to make a train whistle sound. All clarinets play the same line mostly above the break. The trumpet top note is fifth line F.
  
  
• Freeze Frame - Peter Wolf and Seth Justman / Mike Story (Warner Bros.) ($40.00) (Grade 2)
  Freeze Frame is a fast rock shuffle. The trumpet top hot is fourth space E. All clarinets have the same line and play above the break. Alto saxes also have only one line. The trombone and baritone also double on one line. There are many percussion parts: bells/xylophone, optional tambourine, snare drum, quad-toms, bass drum/ tenor drum, and cymbals.
  
  
• Macarena - Antonio Romero and Rafael Ruiz / Mike Story (Warner Bros.) ($40.00) (Grade 2)
  This arrangement of Macarena is a "Big and Easy" arrangement written in the key of F at quarter notes equal to 176 or in cut time with half note at 92. The highest note for the trumpet is fourth line D. The clarinets all play the same line with some notes going over the break. The trumpet is the only section which is divided into two parts.

Grade 3 & 3.5

• Bad to the Bone - George Thorogood / Nick Baratta. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 3)
  Bad to the Bone is a rock shuffle in B flat at quarter notes 96 to 104. The clarinets all play the same line and play in the upper register. The 1st trumpets do have some notes up to high C above the staff.
  
  
• Best of Green Day - Billie Joe Armstrong, Frank Wright and Michael Pritchard / Ken Dye (Warner Bros.) ($50.00) (Grade 3.5)
  Best of Green Day changes key from F to E flat. The first trumpet need only play to G on top of the staff. The clarinets do have a divisi part on the high notes. Clarinets must also be able to play the high C.
  
  
• Classical Time-Outs - arr. Ken Dye. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 3.5)
  Features the tunes from: 2001 Fanfare, Toccata and Fugue, William Tell and Ride of the Valkyries. Each Time-Out is separated from the others. The Key changes from B flat to E flat and back to B flat. The first trumpets must be able to play to C above the staff as do the clarinets.
  
  
• Don’t forget Me (When I’m Gone) - Alan Frew, Glass Tiger, Jim Vallance / Brian Scott (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 3)
  Don’t Forget Me is a rock shuffle at quarter note equals 120. The clarinets play mostly above the break. The key changes from E flat to F. Trumpets must be able to go to the B flat above the staff.
  
  
• Jump by Edward Van Halen, Alex Van Halen, Michael Anthony and David Lee Roth / Bill Calhoun. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 3)
  Jump is a bright rock at quarter note equals to 128. Trumpets play a divided part. The 1st trumpet must have a range to A above staff. All the clarinets have play identical parts up to A above the staff.
  
  
• Purple Majesty - Brian Scott (Warner Bros.) ($50.00) (Grade 3.5)
  Part of the Warner Brothers Diamond Series. The clarinets all play the same line above the break. Trumpets are divided into 3 parts while the trombones have been divided into 2 parts. This tune is in the key of E flat at quarter notes equal to 134.
  
  
• That Thing You Do! - Adam Schlesinger / Larry Clark (Warner) ($45.00) (Grade 3)
  That Thing You Do is from the 20th Century Fox Motion Picture. It is a rock tempo at quarter note equal to 132 to144. All clarinets play the same part with some divisi -- all above the break. The low brass and low woodwinds are featured in a soli in one section.

Grade 4 & 5

• Frankenstein - Edgar Winter / Larry Kerchner with percussion arr. by George Tuthill. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 4)
  A rock tune written in E flat. The clarinets all play the same line, as do the saxes. The trumpets are the only section divided into 2 parts. The low brass and low woodwinds are also divided into 2 parts. There are many percussion parts.
  
  
• Mony Mony - Bobby Bloom, Richie Cordell, Bo Gentry, and Tommy James / John Wasson (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 4)
  Mony Mony is in the Warner Blaster series. There are no woodwind parts. Parts do include drum set, synthesizer, guitar, electric bass and the brasses. Trumpets do play to a high C and the trombones to F above the staff.
  
  
• The Official West Point March, music by Philip Egner, words by Alfred H. Parham, revised words by Philip Egner (1942) (Hal Leonard) ($50.00) (Grade 5)
  The Official West Point March is written in traditional march style in 2/4 meter. Some of the tunes included are: On Brave Old Army Team, Army Blue, The Corps, Alma Mater, Recall, Westpoint Song, Dashing White Sergeant and taps. It is up tempo with many sixteenth note patterns. The trumpet must be able to play to high C above the staff.
  
  
• That’s The Way (I Like It) - Harry Casey and Richard Finch / John Wasson. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 4)
  That’s The Way (I Like It) is a medium disco with the quarter note equal to 112. There are many dotted eighth rhythms including sixteenth-eighth note syncopation patterns. Clarinets play above the break. The trumpet plays to A above the staff.
  
  
• You’ll Be Mine ( Party Time) - Emilio Estefan, Jr., Lawrence Demer, and Clay Ostwald / Victor Lopez. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 4)
  Has mostly syncopated eighth and sixteenth note patterns. All clarinets play the same line above the break. Also saxes also have just one part. The trumpets must play to the G on top of the staff. Many percussion parts include: mallet percussion, cymbals, snare drum, quad-toms, and tonal bass drum (4).

  Combo Blasters is an all purpose book for "games, pep rallies and other stuff". This arrange is playable with as few as 4 players or a full band. Books are arranged in the following: Part 1 in C -- Part 1 in B flat -- Part 2 in E flat -- Part 2 in B flat -- Part 3 in F -- Part 3 in Bass Clef -- Part 3 in Treble Clef -- Part 4 in Bass Clef -- Part 4 in Treble Clef -- Part 4 in E flat -- tuba, guitar, keyboard, electric bass, Dr. set and a general midi disk. Song titles include: Star Spangled Banner; Oh, Pretty Woman; Proud Mary; Louie, Louie; Tequila; Twist and Shout; Sweet Georgia Brown; Gimme Some Lovin'; Old Time Rock 'n' Roll; Soul Man; Celebration; Macarena; Sing, Sing, Sing; Smoke On the Water. The rhythm section can be performed by live performers, a midi device, or CD.
