Silent Night - Arr.
Charles Sayre. (Warner Bros.) ($35.00) (Grade 1.5) This
is arranged in bossa nova style in the key of B-flat. The
key does change to E-flat, but returns to B-flat. There
are some accidentals. The meter is 4/4. This chart is
written for full instrumentation, but is playable with 3
saxes, 2 trumpets, 1 trombone, and 3 rhythm. Optional
flute, tuba, horn and treble clef baritone parts are
provided.

This title contains six complete Christmas charts and a
full performance recording is provided. Additional parts
for flute, horn (substitute for 1st trombone), treble
clef baritone (substitute for 1st trombone), and tuba are
provided.
- Good Kind Wenceslas is in the key of B-flat
in 4/4 meter. It is arranged in a swing style. It has
a D.S. al Coda.
- Adeste Fidelis is also in swing style. It is
in the key of B-flat in common time. The tenor
saxophone has a written solo which can also be
improvised with the chord changes given.
- Deck The Halls is in the key of F. It is in
common time. The tenor saxophone has a written solo
which may be improvised with the chord changes given.
- Swinging Little Drummer Boy is in the key of
F. It is in 4/4 meter. There is a D.S. al Coda.
- Jingle Bells is in the key of B-flat in
common time.
- Joy To The World is in the key of E-flat in
4/4 meter.
- Silent Night - Arr. Paul Clark.
(Barnhouse) ($34.00) (Grade 2.5) This arrangement is in
the key of B-flat in 3/4 meter. The quarter note is equal
to 80 to 88 beats per minute. Each instrument has the
opportunity to solo either with an optional written solo
or improvise with the provided chord changes. This chart
is written for full instrumentation, however, it is
playable with 2 alto saxes, 1 tenor sax, 2 trumpets, 1
trombone, piano, bass and drum.

Calvin Custer. (Warner Bros.) ($45.00) (Grade 3) This
chart is in "rock" style in the key of E-flat.
The meter signature is common time with the quarter note
equal to 144 beats per minute. There are some repeated
sections. The first alto saxophone and the first tenor
saxophone have written solos which may also be improvised
with the chords changes given. There are many accidentals
throughout. This chart has optional flute, horn in F and
treble clef baritone parts included.

- God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen - arr. Paul
Edwards. (Intrada) ($24.95) (Grade 5) Opens in ballad
style with a written flugelhorn solo at quarter notes
equals 80 . There is an open tenor saxophone solo with
chord symbols supplied. The trumpet range is to a D above
the staff. The trombone range is to C, five spaces above
the staff. Several tempo changes from the opening to a
jazz waltz at quarter note equals to 120 and back to 80
near the end. Rhythmically, this chart is not
challenging.
- Joy to the World - arr. Paul Edwards
(Intrada) ($24.95) (Grade 5) Joy to the World opens with
a written piano solo. This chart starts in the key of C
and remains there. Rhythmically this chart is not
challenging. The range of the trumpets require them to
play a D above the staff. There is an open ad. lib. solo
for the 3rd trumpet. Chord symbols are supplied.
- Silent Night - Franz Gruber / Paul
Edwards (Intrada) ($24.95) (Grade 5) Silent Night starts
in the key of C and than changes to F. Trumpets go to D
above the staff and trombones play to C, five space above
the staff. Rhythmically this chart is not challenging.
