How do I open an account and do I need one?

Southern Music Company will gladly open accounts for churches, schools, civic groups and other government organizations. When placing your first order simply provide the complete name of your group, a contact person, billing and shipping address, and if necessary all purchase order information.

Dealers who would like to open an account should call, FAX, or e-mail us for an application and policies.

Individuals who place orders frequently may want to open a retail account; however, it is not necessary.  You may place an order at anytime using a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card or may pre-pay for an order with a check or money order.  If you would like to open a retail account, please call, FAX, or e-mail us for a retail account application.

 


How do I place an order?

There are several ways you can place an order with Southern Music Company:

1. If you have a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card, you may place an order online.

2. If you have an account with us, or we already have your credit card information on file from a previous order, you can simply send your order by e-mail to orders@southermusic.com or use our regular online order form.

3. You can FAX your order to us at (210) 223-4537

4. You can mail your order to us at P.O. Box 329, San Antonio, Texas, 78292.

If you do not have a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card, or do not have an account with us, prepayment is required by personal check, cashier’s check, or money order. Tell us what you would like to order, and we will give you the total price with shipping.

 


What methods of payment do you accept?

For orders to be processed immediately, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover credit cards. You may order music without a credit card, but we request prepayment. For prepayment orders, we accept personal checks drawn on U.S. banks, and cashier’s checks and money orders in U.S. dollars. We will gladly give you a quotation for music you want to purchase, as well as shipping costs. Just e-mail us at quotes@southernmusic.com and let us know what you want to purchase, your mailing address, and your preferred method of shipment. We will e-mail a quotation back to you.

How are my orders normally shipped?

We ship most orders in the United States via UPS or U.S. Post Office, always using the most economical or efficient means. Depending on your location, your music should arrive within 1 to 5 business days. If you prefer to have your music shipped some other way, please let us know. Please keep in mind that UPS cannot deliver to a post office box.

 


Do you accept international orders?

Yes, we provide service to customers in over forty countries. Payment by a Visa, MasterCard, American Express, or Discover credit card is preferred. You may place a credit card order online on our secure server. Otherwise, prepayment by bank draft or international money order in US$ is requested.

What do I do if I need music in a hurry?

Orders are normally shipped the next business day after receiving the order. Any RUSH orders should be phoned or FAXed to Southern Music Company. Shipping charges for UPS Next Day Air, 2 Day Air, or 3 Day Air service are based on weight; these charges can be expensive. If you request Next Day Air service on a Friday, please indicate if you require Saturday delivery (which incurs an extra charge).

If we do not have something in stock that you need immediately, we can issue a RUSH order with the publisher. We can also have any out-of-stock titles shipped directly to you from the publisher. Publishers often charge an additional fee for this service, and you will receive an invoice from Southern Music Company as soon as the publisher confirms this shipment.



What happens if you are out of the music I need?

Although we try to maintain our levels of stock for all popular items, occasionally our stock may become depleted before new shipments arrive. We request that you indicate when ordering whether you prefer for us to cancel your order for any item we do not have in stock, or if you would like for us to back-order the item and ship it as soon as it arrives from the publisher.


 

 


How long do back-orders normally take?

We usually order music from the larger publishers several times a week, so most back-orders from publishers located in the United States arrive in about 7-14 days. Some publishers are located outside of the United States, so these orders will certainly take much longer. It is not common, but some publishers require that all orders meet a certain minimum. Although we are one of the largest distributors in the United States and will make every effort to meet these minimums, orders from these publishers may be delayed.



Can I return music?

All purchases are on definite order and are not returnable. Any exceptions must be authorized in advance; call 1-800-284-5443 to request a return authorization. All returns must be accompanied by a photocopy of your invoice and a return authorization; any unauthorized return will be refused. Returned product must be unmarked and in saleable condition.

Southern Music Company distributes the music of over 500 publishers from around the world. Unfortunately, we are only able to list a fraction of our inventory on our Web site. If you cannot find what you are looking for on our Web site, please e-mail us at info@southernmusic.com and we will be glad to provide you with additional information and availability.

How do I submit music for publication?

Southern Music Company specializes in publishing quality works for the educational music market. We are presently not accepting submissions from new composers at this time, as our obligations to our current composers have filled our editorial and production process. Please contact our publications department if you have additional questions.
